German Engineered Cigars × Privada Cigar Club
Übermut
Among the very first cigars rolled at Tabacalera Gelado — the “Ice Cream Factory” — rested eight years before release.
The Collaboration
On his very first trip to Estelí, Nicaragua, Brian Desind, founder of Privada Cigar Club and the Limited Cigar Association, walked through a small, unassuming factory where relationships mattered more than production numbers. That visit sparked a partnership built on trust and a shared belief that exceptional cigars don’t have to come from the biggest factories.
Together, the decision was made to transform a small corner of the factory into what would become Tabacalera Gelado — affectionately known as “The Ice Cream Factory” — a place reserved for small-batch, experimental productions built for flavor rather than volume. This cigar was among the very first blends ever produced there.
Crafted with a Jalapa-grown Criollo ’98 wrapper, Corojo ’99 binder, and Estelí Corojo and Peruvian fillers, the tobaccos were sourced from some of Nicaragua’s most respected growers, including Aganorsa and AJ Fernandez. Some of the leaf traces its lineage to the seeds of legendary Cuban grower Héctor Luis Prieto Díaz.
After rolling, the cigars rested for eight years, allowing the blend to evolve naturally. When it came time to revisit the Privada Collection, German Engineering meticulously sampled countless aged cigars in search of something extraordinary. Again and again, this cigar separated itself from the rest, proving that remarkable tobacco, patient aging, and the right partnership can create something far greater than any recipe ever could.
